Born and raised in San Diego County into a family whose vacations and weekends often entailed packing up the old Travelall, heading south to camp in Baja, I grew up appreciating wild and lonely places.  Ever since childhood, my  goal has been to have a lifestyle that allowed me to live in remote areas surrounded by nature and earning a living creatively as an artist.  At 21, I went to a trade school to learn welding and shipbuilding thinking it was a practical skill to have for employment and artistic endeavors.  I worked in shipyards, ornamental iron and machine shops and eventually began making art furniture, lighting and sculpture.  In my 30’s I went back to college, got a BS in Landscape Architecture and designed and installed native plant gardens which looked, smelled and felt like the wild. I  always wanted to study painting seriously and after retiring, we moved to a remote part of San Diego County where I feel forever inspired and blessed to wake up to beauty each day and my goal (as with most landscape painters) is to some how translate that wild essence into my paintings.
